“Chaste and loving Heart of Saint Joseph, be my refuge and my guardian.”

This work portrays the chaste and pure Heart of Saint Joseph, the “Guardian of the Two Hearts”: the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. According to the theology of his mission, his heart is a silent, strong, and compassionate refuge, a heart that does not speak with many words, but acts with faith, protection, and fidelity.

Around or upon his heart, a lily—a classic symbol of his chastity and purity—may be present, evoking the virtue that made him worthy to guard Mary and Jesus. The simplicity of the lily also reflects his humility and inner consecration.
